Why do i have hot water in the cold water tank?

you never put non return valves on pipework before entering a pump, the pump has to be able to vent.

non return valves always go on the pipework between the pump & shower, never between cylinder & pump or cws & pump.

the only way hot water will be forced back up the cold feed to cylinder is if it is pushed ,this seeems to happen when you pump is on the fore pump is some how pumping cold up pipe ,firstly check instalation against instructions if ok would say non return valve on hot side on pump is faulty,or bit of solder/debre stuck in non return flap,remove pump and clean or replace pump if faulty.
if pump no good quality best cure fit seperate non return vavle on pipework just before entering pump

have you connected the hot to the cylinder and the cold to the mains ?

you have to explain better than that you can see the problem we can't.

there is not a cold water feed from the cylinder, there is a cold feed to the cylinder. there is hot water feed from cylinder

also how have you connected the cold to the pump and from where ?

how is the hot taken from the cylinder ?
