Mend Dyson dc07 Vacuum Cleaner Dc07

Dyson dc07 upright section removal?

I need to get the dyson stripped down to just leave the base unit, ( motor section and brush ), but am having trouble removing the upright section that houses the wand part, looks like it should just part company but, it's either very tight, or it's not supposed to part.
