Mend Renault Laguna 2002

How can I disconnect the tyre pressure system on my 2002 Laguna 2 ?

How can I disconnect the tyre pressure warning system on my Renault Laguna 2, 1.9 diesel saloon. From new I have had false readings from the sensors whenever it is cold and now one of the sensor valves has died and Renault require over £150.00 to relace.

I had the same problem on my scenic, I had them switched off for twenty five pounds, he also told me that the front wheels were on the back, that's why I couldn't inflate the right wheel to remove the warning from the dash board.
Something to think about.

i have just bought a renault with tyre fault lights showing for no reason. i made an old (blown) fuse into a connector by soldering on 2 wires (one to each pin) then fitted an in line fuse/fuse holder and a small push switch, just under the ashtray by the diagnostic plug between those 2 wires, in series....now all i have to do is pull out the ashtray, start the car, press the switch to break the circuit, car stops running, remove keycard, press switch again to connect circuit, replace ashtray and re-start the car....display re-sets....i was going to put the switch somewhere more accessible,but...hitting it by accident and turning off all power at 70 in the fast lane would not be a good idea. i have to do this about 2 times a week, but it is cheap and effective(fuseholder +switch £4 at carspares) it is fuse 2 on my laguna, marked as "alim uch". i do check the tyres each time in case the crap system DID find a real fault!!!

I have a similar problem. I have a 52 reg renualt laguna and the tyre sensor on the passenger side does not work. The red lights comes on the dashboard and does not show the pressure as well. It was diagnosed but the red lights has come back. Does anyone know how I can fix it?

I have a 54reg renault laguna, I have a sensor fault on my dashboard, this was computer diagnosed as being the rain and light sensor but i just tried a new one and the fault remains, the dash displays a car and the words sensor fault, i am inclined to think it is in the tyre sensors somewhere, a garage inflated my tyres yesterday and now i have a red tyre light above my seatbelt warning light but this goes off after a few seconds, i have done thr trick about pulling out fuse 2 but it does not cut out the car, the car continues running, and i cant find the other box you guys are talking about, whats going on

Hi to all those who need an answer to this jack the car up on passenger side and underneath on that side near the middle you will find a small unit with one plug in it this the receiver for the sensors. Unclip the plug and the dash display returns to normal. Be aware from April any warning lights or sensor faults showing on the the dash of any car is now an instant MOT failure!!! Good luck

I live in France, have 2.2 DCI Laguna 2004. Tyre pressure sensors have been driving me nuts, local Renault garage said they couldn't be disabled. Removing and replacing fuse only worked for a while before false readings started again. Got another garage to plug in to the onboard computer and re-set. All seemed fine, 24 hours later, back to fault. Renault themselves should address this problem - too many people are having the same problem. It seems to be common knowledge in France that Lagunas and other Renaults are a royal pain electrically.

Hi folks.First of all -very good forum.
I'd like to thank ADAM on this thread for his advice.....(remove/replace fuse)it works-the only downfall is that your tyre pressures are now not monitored,so invest the ££££s saved on new rubber valves & a handheld tyre pressure checker. Once again thanks.

excellent advice, thanks above. I had a broken valve and was told it would be 120 to replaceplus reprogramming costs. so after reading this I got it replaced with a normal rubber valve, then I started the car, pulled out th efuse 10, second from top right hand side, car stopped, replaced fuse, took out key, locked door and opened door and restarted car. Job done :D
120 euro better off :D

If I change the valve sensors for normal valves, will the computer keep telling me that the sensors are NOT WORKING ?
Or will it just not mention anything and place the display back in the OK display.

I have tried both ways of resetting but neither have worked for any length of time.

Thanks

Having done nearly 200,000 miles in a Nissan Primera ( a not comfortable exercise ) with no problems AT ALL. I made the mistake of having a change. My Laguna 2002 has had a new gearbox, 2 alternators, 2 starter motors, front spring. The heater has never worked as planned. I can't recount how many of the individual spark plug coils I have replaced. The tyre pressure system has given me a yellow(at best) or as is now a red stop light when there is no problem from day one. Please, anyone who thinks of buying this car refrain. I was in the motor trade for years and this is the most disappointing car I have ever had as it was the most comfortable. Sorry Renault. Hope Laguna 3 proves better but I suspect not.

There are 2 ways of solving this problem. Have all four tyre pressure sensors replaced with normal tyre valves at your local garage, then go to the drivers side fuse box (in the side of the dash board) and while the car is running take fuse number 2 out (10amp, top right hand corner second one down) the car will then cut out. replace the fuse and restart your car. job done. or on the other hand go to your rear passenger side wheel arch, and there will be a small plastic box just to the left of the shocker leg. This box often gets caked with mud thrown from the wheel. Remove the cover by a recessed 10mm nut in the center. it will reveal 2 water proof electrical connectors which will need cleaning off. After disconnecting and thouroughly drying the two connectors, reconnect them and put a hand full of grease on them and in the back of the box before recovering. replace the cover and nut and again fill the top and bottom entry holes with more grease. Then repeat the earlier step with the fuses and job done!!!

MASSIVE THANKS TO NAS.
Did as he suggested and it worked a treat. Dont know why it did, and this probably means it is not picking up the pressure at all. But do I care. NO! No more pesky
warnings every time I get into my car, which usually set me on edge for the day.

Thanks again

Possible cure not disconnect. I have a laguna 2 on a 51 plate which always made the dash board light up like a christmas tree, with false reports of tyre problems especialy after it had rained.
After carrying out a break service i noticed a small plastic box in the n/s/r (passenger side rear)wheel arch just to the left of the shocker leg (As you look in, with wheel removed). After closer inspection of this black box i realised that it was caked with mud thrown from the wheel. Whilst removing the cover which was secured by a recessed 10mm nut in the center which was also hidden by wet mud, it revealed two so called water proof electrical connectors which again needed cleaning off. putting 2 & 2 together i figured this may well be part of our beloved tyre pressure circuit.
After disconnecting and thouroughly drying the two connectors, i reconnected them and got a big hand full of everyday grease and plastered it all over the connections and in the back side of the box before recovering. replaced the cover and nut and again filled the top and bottom entry holes with more grease. Replace the wheel and take the old french beast for a spin. It may take the computer a few miles to take a new reading before you get the resault. One thing is for sure since sorting this out 5 months ago the only time my dash board has annoyed me is when i have had a genuine tyre issue. I have had no problems or side effects after this but obviously cant guarantee anything.
The job will take you 30 mins and all you need is lots of grease and a 10mm socket. be good to hear if anyone else has a good resault from this. Good luck maffa101
