My mp4 reads 'disk error' what do I do?

My mp4 player now only allows me to go on the radio. For everything else it reads 'disk error'. I had a disk come with the player - but I thought it might be the program, so I deleted it off computer and tried to re-instal the disk. Now my pc wont even read that disk anymore. My mp4 model is Inki1. it reads 2gb. My computer does bring it up when connected to the 'removable disk' drive. When I clik on that it asks me - do I want to reformat. But it stipulates all data will be deleted by doing so. What do I do?? This was a presie which was going until I tried downloading stuff on it. What should I do??
