Operating Manual for Schrieber Integrated Freezer?

I have an APM6855 operating and installation manual and will try an upload it.

My freezer was not as good as it used to be and my fridge was on high I followed what Adrian said and now it is like a new ridge freezer From Adrian Think the problem is due to icing up of the heat exchanger which prevents the air circulation into the fridge compartment. It is very common I think, but it could be one of several things which cause it (sensors, heater, controller pcb) and the difficulty is determining the faulty component. If you want to speed it up remove the back cover in freezer section and the round insert on your right this is housing for wiring for fan take a lot of care prisingl the lugs out Thanks again Adrian

My Father has the same problem. I opened up the freezer last night and found the evporator coil frozen solid.
I defrosted overnight and I'm going to check the defrost heater.
Will let you know how I get on.
It might be as good to order a new unit of similar at a cost of £230.......

just trawling the web to find answer why my fridge compartment on this model shows H and has completely stopped working after only 18mths. I will try Adrian's suggestion to defrost whole unit. Has anyone any other suggestions....especially if this doesn't work as regards alternative, more reliable models the same size to fit in the gap?

scrap it a pile of cr*p had the same prob paid over 300 4 parts and i will never buy an appliance from this company again when i contacted the helpline i was told to produce a receipt!!! it was a wedding present as i explained to the somewhat nasty call operater who repiled by telling me no receipt no warranty what a pack of useless people!!

Bin in and dont waste any more money trying to get it mended ! I have spent the last few weeks being stressed out with mine and trying different ways to get it mended - it was such a relief to wake up this morning with a new one and to be able to open the fridge door without worrying what the temperature was going to be !

hi so cheesed off why are they allwed to get away with it mines 18 months old go the dreaded hot fridge totally out of order schreiber should sort it out,watchdog everyone dont take it moan got to moan for them to listen,its a recession we are all in same boat could do with out this.

Had the same problem - ice build-up that stops the fridge from working. I noticed that the fridge door wasn't closing properly - letting hot moist air into the fridge - is that the source of the ice build-up?

I've defrosted the fridge thoroughly and adjusted the doors so they seal.

Now I'm going to wait and see if that's fixed it...

I'm just one more schreiber victim, with the same 'H' problems as the rest.
I found the exchange unit completely blocked with ice. Obviously the auto-defrost is broken!
I completely disconnected it from the mains, then defrosted it with boiling water and then my wife's hairdryer.
It worked for 2 days and then did the same.
The fan that pushs the cold air up to the fridge compartment also seems to have given up.
Now it's always on 'H'.
I hate to give up on it, even if it is cheap rubbish!

I had the older version of apm6855 which went wrong after a few months.Had a warranty & had engineers(?)out quite few times & in the end they replaced with you guessed it the apm6855.That was Dec 06 & 18 months later the infamous warm fridge section.I have not seen any way of permenently fixing this problem & would advise anyone to find a replacement fridge & not waste money on controllers (£77) or other call out fees as most engineers want to go through their own process of elimination & change the most common parts & then go on to more parts until they lose interest because they can make easier money at this stage or genuinely do not know how to progress.I am now looking for a similar fridge freezer from another manufacturer & think that any one who has found a good 1 should let others know

I have an APM6855 I also have had the problem with the H on the fridge but the freezer is fine. 1st time it happened was that it was iced up defrosted for 48 hours and all back and working no problem, (you need to but a bowl at the back as well as the front) the 2nd time we realised that we had but a box of beer at the back against the vent bottom right hand side above the salad trays. Move the box and back to normal in an hour.

I have the manual but not much in it, H means Hot press the cooler button to see what the fridge temp is set at the same for the freezer – supper is there to rapidly freeze after defrost etc.

HI, I can't help you with the Manual, but I can tell you that I have the same Fridge/Freezer and it broke after 18 months with a similar problem to the one that you described. I talked to Interspares (found them on the Internet) and they stated that the problem with the Fridge was that the Thermal Control Unit were reknown for going defective. I spent £75 replacing this unit but to no effect. I have decided to change the Fridge/Freezer for a new one as I am so dissapointed that the thing failed after 18 months. I have also had problems with their Washer/Dryers and ovens, so I won't be buying any more Diplomat products!!! My suggestion (for what it's worth) would be for you to contact Interspares (www.interspares.co.uk)

Adrian's suggestion is correct. I defrosted the heat exchanger by leaving the unit off for a day. When I turned it all back on it worked a treat. Nice one Adrian, without your suggestion I would have probably junked the thing.

We have the same fridge-freezer APM6855.Freezer part working fine fridge part totally useless showing H constantly.The fridge-freezer is only 18months old we have had an engineer out three times now and to no avail has he been able to fix it.We have already paid out £200.00 so far we thought we were buying quality and the manual is absolutely useless.The engineer has said he has done all that he can do,he has replaced the memory card £130:00 and sensor not sure of the cost yet he has now suggested buying a new fridge-freezer.

I'm on my 5th call out for the same problem. Freezer working fine but fridge reading 'H' and not getting cold. Have had the control panel refitted but no luck. Looks like a new one. Don't bother with the manual - as much use as a wet paper bag - it tells you nothing!

To prove the point try the following if possible. If you are able to find somewhere for the contents, try defrosting the whole unit it for 24hrs with the doors open and mains supply switched off. You will probably then find that it all works correctly, but only for about 2-3weeks before it happens again. There is definitely a fault which needs correcting, it is not something that you can adjust.

The heat exchanger in the back of the freezer compartment gets very cold (obviously) and condensation/ice build up on it to the point where it becomes useless as air can no longer pass over it. The freezer is supposed to periodically switch on a heater located under the heat exchanger to melt the ice but this is not happening for some reason.

I'm still trying to get to the bottom of the problem with my unit (hence trawling these pages).

If you want to access the heat exchanger you can get to it from inside the freezer compartment but its a fiddle. email me on adrianleachuk@yahoo.co.uk if you want more detail of how to do this. At least this enables you to pour hot water over the heat exchanger to reduce the defrost time to about 1hr ao you food doesn't defrost too. But you still have to repeat every 3 weeks!!.

Hi, Same again and same problem - how do I get an operating manual for this fridge freezer??? My digital display shows -18 for the freezer which is working fine and H for the fridge which is also freezing everything. Other than a manual does anyone know how to adjust the fridge section setting so that it doesn't freeze. Ta Jackie

Hi there, Yes I got the same model amp 6855. fridge not working but freezer is. Just found out what you need to do, buy a new one. just spoke to a man who new his fridges. I said it was the Thermostat but he said if you look at the back there is only one compressor that runs for both the fridge and freezer. if it is working it means the thermostat is not the promlem, if is was it would get too cold in the fridge. No the compressor has lost its charge and in time the freezer will get warmer.It is cheaper just to get a new unit.
Next question where can i get a fridge/freezer that will fit in to the same place that is not a Schreiber AMP6855.

I too have the exact same problem as you but have no idea how to fix it. Going to try and move unit and have a good look around to see if any blockages but other than that, i'm unsure what else to do. Keep me posted if you have any luck.

John i have just moved into a new house that has the same model of schreiber integrated fridge /freezer, it is showing the same, H for the fridge but - 22 for the freezer, freezer is fine but fridge seems too hot, moved stuff about but doesnt seem to help, let me know how you got on please, thanks.
