Base station is the first phone unit which requires the power socket.
Trial and error is the name of this type of fault.
Start all over again. But first while the base unit cordless phone is set up try using the extension cordless phone to call in and get a freind to ring back. If it doesn't work then go through the following.
Remove the base station telephone socket plug.[leave the power socket in there is no need to take this out]
Plug in the substitute telephone to your base station telephone socket. If you get dial tone phone a friend and then get them to phone back to check calls still come in through that socket.
If it doesn't work either in or out it's got to be a line or box fault which means contacting your service provider.
If it works go to the next stage.
Unplug your substitute telephone and plug the base unit of the cordless back in. Fault still there?. Check the base unit is ok showing relevant displays. Ok?. Check with you instruction manual if you can change the extention cordless to operate on the base station cradle. If you can and the phone works then you have discovered there is a fault in the first hand set.
If it doesn't work then the fault could be in the base station itself which means a new first phone if you can get one depending how old the units is.
If still under the year/2yr guarantee change the whole system.
Sorry can't be more helpfull.
