My Pan TX-W28R4DP has had an intermittent problem for a while, it switches itself off a few seconds after it is powered on, this has gone on for several months but has now got worse! It now either powers off as soon as it is powered on, or, stays on with sounds but no picture, just a horizontal line across the centre of the screen. Any ideas?
This info was spot on for my TV with a similar fault - thanks
I got the service info from http://www.user-service-manuals.com to help locate components.

hmmmmmm I was thinking of doing a DIY job, I have the service manaual for the set, do you have a part number for the frame IC so I can track it down on the circuitboard? I was planning on getting a new TV, just not right now so I just want it to go on a little longer

Actually, didn't read that properly, in your case it'll be the frame output IC has dry soldered joints.
Personally I would replace the frame IC with with new at the same time. Also, if it's dry jointed at the frame IC, you can be fairly sure to find other dry joints in the frame, line output and power supply.
Maybe worth having an engineer out as it was a good TV in it's day. Expect a bill around £70.
