My Diplomat integrated dishwasher won't shut?

After a wash two weeks ago, I left the door on my integrated Diplomat dishwasher opened for filling. This morning, I was about to put on a wash when I found that I could not shut the door. There are no obvious signs of obstruction and I tightened the screws around the frame to no effect. The door just would not close tight (with the clip sound).

The freeholder who installed the machine did not leave an instruction manual, so I can't tell you the model details. The machine is four years old. I used a screwdriver and press the plastic clip inside the door. When I turn the on on/off button and selected a cycle, the machine comes on and starts to fill with water, although the door is not shut and the machine is not waterproof. On the basis of this, the problem does not appear to be electrical. It seems like a mechanism in the door is jammed. Can you advise? Thanks.

I had this problem. I tried just about everything, resets, drainage, thought about a new pcb, etc. I eventually removed the locking mechanism (with the power off) as this seemed to be where the problem stemed from. I was about to order another one, but didn't, as the mechanism seemed to work fine in my hand - you can open and close it if you push the right place with your fingers. It didn't however work when installed in position. The reason for this was that the catch that it pushes on to when the door is closed had bent up very slightly and was riding over the top of the mechansim, thus not triggering the microswitch, meaning that the dishwasher believed the door was always closed. I just bent this catch down a mm or two with some pliers and everything works fine now.

Sounds like the same problem I just had with my adp8242, with the door open and laying flat I unscrewed the two screws that hold the false door panel on the front (along the inside edge, one either side and near the bottom) then lifted the false door panel off the front and AFTER TURNING THE POWER OFF! unscrewed the 6 torx screws around the top and side inside edges (only the ones that undo the black panel on the front) then you can carefully pull the black panel forward off the front (its a bit stiff but does come off and there are still wires attached so go carefully) then disconnect the 2 wires on the inside of the white door latch housing (remember which way around they go) then push the plastic clip in the bottom of the white latch housing and lift up to disengadge the lugs and push the whole housing downwards and voila the housing should come away in your hand, then all you have to do is press the grey latch back in to the open position and reverse the process to reasemble! if when you remove the latch it's broken you can get a replacement. The door lock has a micro switch within that sometimes fails, assuming yours is an adp 8242 (you can check this by the label on the right inside edge of the door, with the door open and as your looking at the machine) you can get the part from ukwhitegoods.co.uk.part number 697690139 at £13.24 inc VAT , they will need the serial number to ensure this is the correct version of the model as it has change during its manufacturing life.
Hope this helps.
