the key symbol is flashing and the washer is stuck on the dryer mode for 50 mins. I can open the door and there is no water in the machine. Can you help?

I had a flashing 3, the 'rinse hold' and spin lights were on and the machine was full of water and beeping.

I followed Steves instructions and found the pump propeller fouled by hair. I removed the hair carefully. Be aware that the base of the propeller is sealed by a soft rubber grommet that I imagine can be easily cut so try not to use anything sharp if you need to clear this.

Then did everything back up and all was well.

I would just re-oiterate the warning to unplug any applance from all power sources before doing any work on them.

have replaced pump twice on this machine it's easy!
take off the cover as described by peter you will find a thin black hose about 15 cm long with a plastic cap this is the emergency drain hose pull this gently out of the front of the macine then with a flat bowl or dish under you gently pull the cap loose but not all the way out, be ready to push the cap back on as your bowl fills up.. eventually you will drain all the water from the machine (believe me it can take a while) but once the hose is empty it is safe to remove the screw cap from the pump, do have some towels ready as there will be residual water in the pump.
with a bit of luck you will find something in the pump body - coin, screw etc that is fowling the pump. give it a good clean screw up tight remember to put the cap back on the hose and test. If it comes to the worst and the pump needs replacing they can be obtained on Ebay for less than £30 (have just sent for another) and are self explanatory to exchange. Access the pump by tipping the matchine back to get at the plate underneath.
Dont pay for w/machine engineers!

Hi there.

I think you have a blocked drain pump, as I have seen and repaired this problem before.

Before the machine goes into 'final rinse' cycle, or before 'spin' cycle, all the water in the drum should be drained completely.
The drain pump does this job.

No.1; SWITCH OFF AND PLUG OUT THE POWER TO THE MACHINE!!!

The drain pump becomes blocked (and prevents water being drained from the drum), if foreign objects (i.e a denim jean metal button, or the pin of a belt buckle) get stuck there.

The drain pump is located on the front of the machine.
There is a removable plastic fascia at the bottom of the machine (2 plastic lug screws hold this fascia in place).
The 2 screws need just 1 turn to loosen, and cannot be removed from the fascia. (a flat blade screwdriver will suffice)

There are a couple of hidden clips on the fascia that secure it to the machine. These are located at the top edges of the fascia, and can be pressed on (by sliding a wide, flat knife between the top of the fascia) to release the fascia from the front of the machine.

Once this done, the screw cap for the drain pump (now clearly visible) is located on the left hand side.

Unless you are a competent W/M engineer, DO NOT, DO NOT attempt to remove this cap, as you risk flooding the floor with water.

You should not need to replace the drain pump, as this problem can be rectified fairly easliy by a competent engineer.

To the right of the drain pump cap, there is an open section that has 2 black tubes.

DO NOT touch the larger black tube (metal clip attached).
The long, thinner black tube will need thorough inspection by your engineer. This tube may well have foreign matter that is obstructing the working function of the drain pump.
