Just to add my experience; TDC60s.

Heating issue; basically drum would spin but no heat just cold air. After leaving off for a while and turning back on it would work for 60s or so and then revert back to no heat.

After a bit of searching I ended up replacing the thermostats, even though they gave a low resistance on my mutimeter (thought I wasn't using it correctly)... still did not work. Then replaced the heating element as it gave too high a resistance reading according to the e-spares website. 50 quid later and this still did not resolve the issue.

Found this thread and investigated a bit more. When heating light went off (during normal clockwise rotation) it went on and off as I banged the RHS of the machine - leading me to think it might be the PCB... (the brush and the bearing contact were OK).

Close inspection of the PCB and it *looked* like there *might* be some bad solders, slightly cracked circumferentially around the contact... I noticed about 4 in the same condition. Nothing left to lose, so I added a little extra solder and made sure the contacts were good. Hey presto, it seems to have done the trick!

Probably my soldering isn't the best, but it was enough to connect whichever one(s) wasn't quite perfect... Perhaps I'll have to do this again as some point but we'll see...

Wanted to share to give others the confidence to try this out.

same fault on mine as listed .. all 3 relays had soldered joints breaking away from the circuit board on connections furthest away from pcb edge. Not too easy to spot without good light.

Hi all, I have a tdc 62. I had the same problem the active light came on but no heat? I changed the thermos-still not working? I finally done a bit of investigating and found that on the pcb(circuit board) you have two relays (blue). I found that the solders were broken thus causing this problem a lot of these dryers have. I re-soldered the joints-works perfect!!
Manufacturers put light solders on these boards and they crack?...You the consumer are none the wiser -throw it away and go out and buy a new machine. If you know somebody who's good at electronics ask them to test/look at your machines pcb. This might save u a lot of money.....good luck!!

You don't have that photo still do you I fitted a new heater and thermostats but didn't take one, now i'm not sure which wire goes where or which thermostat goes where I think it is green spot on the left as you look at it from the rear, can you confirm this. Also how did you know which one had failed, I take it when they fail they have high resistance? i.e. the circuit is open, if so all my 3 sets appear to be ok, in which case the fault must be else-where

I've changed thermostats on my tdc 60 and the drying light still doesn't come on .
Any other solutions ?

I have the same problem and have also had this model not heat up. I have carried the replacement of the thermostats in the past but not with an active light on problem. I am going to replace them with this problem, to see if it goes away. I'll let you know.

Ok, it's three months since you asked but here's an answer anyway. Just had a similar problem with my 4 year old Hotpoint WDC60. Everything worked as normal except it wouldn't heat. I fixed mine by replacing the thermostats.

How I replaced the thermostats:

Unplugged the machine.

Thermostats are on the rear of the machine.
To access them I had to unscrew and remove three covers:
First Cover is about 2" square and located on the back, centrally.
Second is just below the first and is actually a piece of angle, horizontal and about 21x1".
Third is the large cover shaped like a moon boot. This piece has a gasket. My 'moon boot' was stuck to the large back panel of the machine. I gently prised the 'moon boot' away with a flat bladed screw driver. On inspection it looked like it was dried dust that had caused the panels to stick together; the gasket was fine.

With the three panels removed, I saw the two thermostats directly above the heating element.

Using a continuity tester I found that one of the thermostats had no continuity.

**Before removing them I took a digital photo to record where the wires and the thermostat with the coloured dot were located**.

I removed the thermostats.

I ordered and bought a pair of new thermostats from my local white goods spares shop for £17. They only come in pairs.

I fitted the new thermostats using my photo for reference.

I chucked the broken thermostat and kept the working, but old, thermostat.

Finally, I replaced the covers and plugged in the machine. It works!
