Vauxhall Zafira 2.0Dti Electronics Warning light?

Hi can any one help?? My 2004 zafira 2.0 tdi traction control light flashes when I reach 40 mph, the car seams to loose power when the light is flashing, then when the car reaches around 70 - 80 mph the light stays on and my abs light comes on and stays on, when both lights are on perminant the car seams to run fine no loss of power at all, soon as I turn the engine off and restart the car all the lights are back to normal until I hit 40, any help would be great full as this has baffled me, cheers Andy

probably one or more of the glow plugs open circuit check the resistance of each one should be a few ohms

had a bottle of lemonade pierce and spray under ny passenger seat.... now the airbag warning light is on. I have moped all and allowed to dry but still on does it need a manual reset?

When I bought my lovely old Zafira 2.0DTI from a garage they told me to ignore it! Nice!

I had it serviced at KwikFit and hey presto! No spanner!

You might do worse than do than or take it to a Vauxhall specialist like Vauxalist and have it serviced and get your service spanner reset..........good luck

hi i have a zafira 2.0 dti 2002 had loss of power did egv glow plugs engine oil and filtter air filtter, then reset the service light by pressing and holding the mile counter and turning ignition on JOB done car running spot on 07598215050

on the zafia 2.o dti it's common that the inside of the manifold to get dirty very oily like mud. clean the inside of the manifold with mr muscle oven cleaner,leave it for a half hour for it to work in . clean out the holes where the manifold goes. then clean out the egr valve. once you cleaned it all . put it back on engine. then put engine flush in engine . run car then change oil and oil filter. then put the right grade of oil in. also change the air filter. also check all the air pipes that they are clean. put a can of carb cleaner in the fuel and injecjor cleaner then give your car a good run. your car will run smooth. and the light has gone out on mine. and still out and its running miles better. best of luck

This can be due to the crank shaft censer that is fitted in the front of the engine. the fualts are no rev counter - white smoke - engines ideal is very bad and revs up and down by its self - no power but will run with no problems some of the time. to fix this buy a new vaxhall part this not to hard to fit about 3/4 hour

vauxhall meiva design 2005 - car symbol with spanner on the dash - took this to a local garage to get the diagnostics test ran - code says it is a leak in a pipe coming from the exhaust???? my car is running fine - i have found no problems with the power or fuel consumption when i am driving!!

has anyone had the same problems as this before i book it into the garage to get the leak traced???

hi we have a 1.8 auto zafira the light comes on after about 10mins of driving but not everytime and it stays on till we turn the car off i bought the code on ebay to turn the light off this worked for about a week then it comes back on again its been services and when the light is on we havent noticed any change in how the car drives we had this problem for about 8 months now and its really driving my husband nuts any idears

Had similar problems recently. (Although my car is a 1.8 Design Automatic.) Light came on in August on a journey. Did not show again until more recently when it came on a couple of times. Then again on Tuesday evening it came on, I parked the car and when I came back and switched the engine on it had gone again. Am due a long journey this weekend so hope it will still be intermittent and not cause a breakdown. Have booked it in for diagnostic test next Tuesday - as well as a head gasket. It is nothing to do with service as that was done just last week. May be able to post a PS next week.

for the guys having a smell of petrol check the breather pipe from the carb to top of the engine for damage i had a small hole in my vectra pipe i replaced the pipe and petrol smell gone.

every answer i checked on ere was wrong with my warning spanner symbol mine use to come on once i pressed the brake pedal after the first time it started then it wouldnt come off and i had no lose off power still drove fine then after switch off and restart it wouldnt come on then once idiol it came back on again then i noticed with lights left on( no key in ignition) if you pressed the brake pedal the hole dashboard lit up like a xmas tree if you depressed the brake pedal the brakes light stayed on therefore it was a short on the brake pedal switch.
saying that i still wished i hadnt bought mine and i wouldnt recommend buying one either i certaintly got ripped off on mine(buy a vw sharon or nissan serana or something less hassle)

We had the same problem with the engine management light coming on and off, no power, and vauxhall code showing egr valve. I took off the EGR cap and cleaned it, as explained earlier (thanks for the tip Adam) it did improve the performance, but still died on hills which can be dangerous!.

However, took the car to a local garage who found that a Vacuum Pipe was broken, only cost £40 to fix, and the car is running like a dream now, with no management light on. If you have the same problem, don't take Vauxhall's word for it, try the Vacuum Pipes first.

it sounds like the pressure sensor on the turbo boost it is a common thing to go on 2.0dti thing is they have more than 1 sensor that can cause the problem, the cheap one is about 40 quid plus vat plus fitting the expensive one is around 205 quid plus fitting, both of mine have gone and have been done it will cure the problem.

This problem could be a number of things it came up on my zafira i hooked it up to a diagnostic machine and the fault was crankshaft sensor this caused the car to have no power it costs around 60 pound for vauxhall to hook it up or you can buy your own thats what i did and i would advise you to do the same

hi i have a vauxhall zafira 2.0dti, when i start it the spanner light cums on and its smokes like hell smelling of diesal, when i turn it off the spanner light goes out an wen i try 2 rev it the spanner light comes on again and smokes, ive chekd the egr valve thats fine as are all the pipes, any ideas? could the pump be gone?

hi i also have a 2.0l dti 2003 i had the same problem with my spanner light going on and off whilst driving putting car in limp mode.diognostic fault was p0400 egr valve.i had the problem for nearly 2 years but couldnt afford new valve.so i cleanedthe valve without taking it off.the valve sits just behind the radiator at the top in the centre.all i done was took off the plastic grey cap to the left hand side of the valve it was almost packed solid with carbon i scrapped off all the carbon from inside the plastic cap and all what the cap was covering there was a dog leg shaped piece of metal which when the engine is running and you rev it up moved back and forth this was clogged with carbon restricting air flow i cleaned all around this and sprayed with wd40 after i put the cap back on and took it for a run. 3 weeks later the light still hasnt come on. i took it back to garage to clear fault code and mechanic said it had cleared the code itself meaning the cleaning i done had worked.i would recomend to anyone on trying this first as it takes no more than 20 minutes and you dont have to take anything to bits.i went on youtube first to find the egr valve and saw the egr valve working so i new what i was looking for before i started.i hope this helps others as i was quoted £208 upwards plus fitting.im not saying this is everybodies answer but it is a very quick and easy place to start. goodluck

I would say its a glowplug issue. From a cold start the spanner symbol stays on for quite a long time but will eventually go out. It can also cause the headlights to flicker too.

Now and again if the problem is bad enough the spanner symbol can come on when the engine is hot under acceleration but please be careful though as the spanner symbol can come on when the engine is hot under load due to an EGR valve issue too.

As always a tech2 diag unit would be handy to give you a proper idea.

One other point i'd like to add is that the glowplugs can have issues without the actual glowplug light on the dash lighting up.

Vauxhall Zafira 2.0Dti Electronics Warning light.?
I have a vauxhall Zafira 2.0Dti and it has the following symptoms :-

1) From hot or cold when I turn the ignition on the Engine Electronics warning light comes on (small spanner symbol) and remains on.

2) From cold the Engine Electronics warning light comes on (small spanner symbol) and stays on until the engine has been running for about 2-3mins. After this it goes out and stays out.

3) When the ignition is switched on after the engine has heated, the warning light comes on and stays on.

4) If the engine is warmed up and started, the light goes out immmediately.

Any thoughts ?

Im having the same troubles on my zafira 2dti 2003 model, the light with the spanner and car come on when started from cold but if i rev it past 3000 rpm it goes off also when the light is on it causes my headlights to flicker????

Hi i have a zafira 2004 2.0 dti. the eml (engine management light) came on a few times for a couple of minutes then went off again, it puts the car in to limp home mode which means it will not rev more than 3000rpm which is to protect the engine. this light can come on for a number of reasons. my fault is the egr valve (exhaust gas recycling valve). I called frosts local vauxhall dealership they told me it was £320 to supply only. Was told by my garage to try cleaning it first with electronic cleaner. it is only 2 bolts and 2 pipes to remove it. will let you know if this works.

Hi there if you need to reset the service light on a vauxhall zafira do this it worked on my 2004 zafira
1. TURN IGNITION OFF

2. HOLD TRP COMPUTER RESET IN

3. TURN IGNITION ON

4. STILL HOLDING TRIP RESET, WAIT FOR THREE DASHES ON THE DISPLAY

5. TURN OFF IGNITION.

6. RELEASE TRIP RESET.

7. TURN ON IGNICION TO CONFIRM SERVICE LIGHT HAS GONE OUT.

it is not the service light the service light is on the mileing clock this is a shape of a car with a spanner up it on the bottom of the clock clean the egu or the bar pressure sensor 2004 2L dti 44.000 miles only

hi got a 2004 zafira and it has 44.000 on the clock and i have got a spanner light come up it will cut you power down no turbo i had it tested and it is the barometric pressure sensor it is to do with the air press can it be cleaned out there are NO PIPES ON IT AT ALL just two wires with a bolt

i had the spanner light come on after 18000 miles on my 04 plate 2.0 DTI zafira causing the infamous drop in power, car would not rev over 3000 RPM, i had it serviced and the light never came on again (not once) until it had reached 38000 miles, now it comes and goes again so my guess is it needs a service again as there is 20000 miles difference from the last time it was serviced, vauxhall can do the major service for £149 including parts labour and VAT so am gonna book it in soon, if it works i will post another message on here.

can anyone help. I`ve got a 02 Reg Vauxhall zafira 2.0 dti ( diesel ).
basically it has developed a fault whereby it is really short of power mainly when accelerating. The electronics control indicator light is staying on when the engine is ticking over. if you turn of the engine then restart and drive, it stays off until you leave it ticking over but the power fault is still there whether or not the light is on or not.
any ideas.....

i was having a problem with my zafira, it was the same indicator lights, erg valve and glow plugs. the main dealer saids after i paid them 250 for the dianosis, they said that need to replace all of this,and they want 690 for it. is there anybody can help me with this please? and i don't know what do you call that especial bolt head, it has a shape of a flower. help me please. and even if i want to do it, i can't locate where the glow plug is. i have located the velve as i have read from the chap who gave help with the lad that was having a problem like mine. thanks dude.

Hi i have the same problem with my Zafira 2.0 DTI 2005 Engine Electronics warning light comes on (small spanner symbol) when first starting the car the light comes on, goes out after a minute or two, I agree that it is probably the EGR valve,I have try to remove this disconnecting the pipes and the two torx bolts holding it on.but still dosn't moves.Even gave it a little tap with a hammer still dnsn't move can any one help thanks.

Hi i have the same problem, with my astra 2.0 dti i was driving along fine on the motorway until the spanner symbol came on. First few times it came on and went off then on one occasion it stayed on and the car would not rev past 3000 revs. I turned it off and restarted it and drove fine for another 45 miles.
Can anyone help?

get your glow plugs checked and replaced. I had the same problem and it took Vauxhall ages to get it sorted!

Its not the service light!! on the 2.00 DTI it relates to fault on either:
Imobaliser, if its running its not that.
Auto transmission fault if it is an auto box or something on the fuel side.
The most likely thing on the 2 DTI is the EGR valve located at the font of the engine, it gets gunged up with carbon and sticks causing the light to come on.
Easy fix!!
Clamp off the 2 small water pies leading in to it and remove pipes.
Remove the wiring plug from the end.
Then remove the two torx bolts holding it on and carefully remove unit.
You will see the plunger valve stem covered in hard carbon deposits.
Scrape off and clean in paraffin of similar, be very careful not to get any liquid into the plug socket.
Once cleaned refit and see if that has cured it.
This is a very common fault, iv done lots of these.

yeah get it serviced.its the service light m8.if u dont want 2 service it press the button that resets the mile counter thing & hold it in,turn ignition on,it should then count down from 10 to 1 .thats it service indicator is reset
