Mend Toilet Water Flushing

My cistern doesn't stop filling up, so the overflow constantly drips?

Maybe the ball valve comes up too high, but I cant stop it. The water incessantly drips into the cistern, and out the overflow, except when flushed. Can anyone help/suggest? I have tried turning nuts/ things/ to no avail!........!

sounds like the float valve has a faulty diaphragm. buy a new float valve and fit.
