Mend Bosch Washing Cycle Help Start

washing machine cycle selector dial/knob keeps turning! help!?

when I turn on my Bosch washing machine and start a cycle the cycle selector dial keeps turning (thus causing the machine to stop-start each time it falls onto a new setting).

any ideas?
