Why is brake pedal travel excessive?

I'm stumped too! Will look at the web site you suggested cheers. I am able to get a hard brake pedal pumping it up without the engine running as soon as the engine is running the pedal goes soft!

I'm a bit stumped, but I have been reading an item on http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/group2/common_problems/brake_servo.htm that gives a cause on MGF cars. It may be worth a read. Good luck.

Hi,
If as you say the master cylinder and slaves are good, and the system bled, then the usual suspect is brake shoes (Linings) adjustment. Remember a very small amount of movement between lining and drum translates into a large movement at the pedal.
