Tractor quits under load and have noticed vacuum on fuel tank?
my tractor quit while discing, at the time I noticed vacuum on the fuel tank. Changed out filters and checked outlet of tank, now I am not able to manually pump up the fuel to bleed out the filters (have new lift pump coming) Do you think I'm on the right track or is there something else I should look at. Tractor is an Allis Chalmers 5050 perkins 53 HP diesel.
Have you fixed the problem? I would think it is worth checking the breather into the tank possibly a pinprick on the filler. As you take fuel out obviously the void has to be replaced by air or the pump will struggle with a vacuum. I had one tractor that did it and sometimes overnight it would suck the fuel back along the line and I would have to bleed the system in the morning. Hope this helps but a bit late I guess.
