Mend Electrolux Dishwasher Model Works

how can i fix my dishwasher, electrolux, dishlex, 302?

I have an Electrolux Dishlex dishwasher, model 302.
It works through all functions but no longer heats the water.
How do I get to and change the element, or is it likely to be something else.
It's only 2.5 yrs old.

Many Electrolux dishwashers have a tachometer on the back of the wash pump motor that is there simply to tell the controller that the pump is operating and it's okay to turn on the heater relay. Failure of the tachometer is common causing the no heat problem. Electrolux in their wisdom (greed?) don't supply the tachometer on its own even though it is fairly simple to replace.

My Electrolux looks like it starts but then it starts beeping and stops and the display panel starts flashing whilst beeping

Is this board at the top of the door where the bottons are? My washer's bottons are hidden at the top when you close the door. I have an Electrolux (Electrojunk) model EIDW6105GS0 stainless dishwasher.
Per the repairman ($85) I replaced the pump ($25). That did not work so I replaced the valve ($65) and heater core ($35) as well. It still won't heat. Now I am trying to determine where this "board" is. I took the one out that was attached to the buttons on the door but I am not sure if this is the one everyone is talking about...? I don't believe anything looks burnt.

I tried doing the same with my dishwasher and solder a wire on the circuit board, still not heating? how do i change a heating element

Our dishwasher stopped heating after 2.5 - 3 years. Repair man said it was the pump and that the water was keeping it cool in the bottom... Bull$&^% I thought... it is the heating element so I ordered the heating element, pump, and $60 valve and replaced all three them myself... as I sit here with the dishwasher in the middle of my kitchen floor at 1:30am and wait the dishwasher still does not heat. It must be this board others are posting about. I would suggest checking the board before going through what I did...

I will Never by an Electrolux again!

Only attempt this if you consider yourself a competent handyman with soldering skills.

Remove the dishwasher from mains power

Remove the main controller circuit board from the dishwasher door. Once you turn the circuit board over you will probably see a burnt out track. The track carries the current from the relay on the circuit board to the heater element. The track is one of the larger ones and is near the edge of the circuit board so its fairly easy to identify.

Repair the break in this track by bridging the break by soldering a short length of copper wire across the break.

The problem is that the size of the track is a little too small to carry the amount of current required to operate the heater element and eventually the track burns through.

Yep, same thing happened to me. 4 years old and the Electrolux 302 dishwasher stopped heating the water. Dishes don't clean.
I couldn't figure out how to get to the element to test it. Luckily, the problem was in the electronics as described above.
Here's what you do;
Required: philips screwdriver, solder iron, solder, pen and paper.
Unplug DW
open door, take out 4 screws along top of inside of door (not two bigger ones around handle) and the top one screw on each side. 6 in total.
pull front unit away. You'll see 2 bunches of wires leading to unit.
note on pen and paper order of 2 wires on left hand power terminals. Disconnect.
unwind bigger bunch of wires from centre W shape.
Place front panel on top of DW.
Unclip 4 clips (two each side of box) and open white box (hinged).
make note of where each wired plug goes in top of box.
Remove 4x left hand wired plugs (use flat head screw driver to push out) and 2x right hand wired plugs.
Front electronic unit is completely free now.
Lift out circuit board from front.
(note: recommend use static protection when touching circuit board)
On back of circuit board, under biggest black box, you should see a black/burned dry joint on circuit board.
(water gets in if you pause mid cycle and eventually will burn out this joint) If no burned joint, put back together and check your heating element.
Solder joint.
Reverse procedure to put back together again.
If this does not restore your DW, (and there was a burned out joint) you should replace circuit board.

Note, make sure all screws tight.

Our serviceman noticed that a small bit of condensation had dripped onto the circuit board connector causing it to short out. The control board is located under the dishwasher in the front. If the door is opened mid cycle, or when there is still moisture on it, drips can run down to the area of the control board. When the serviceman replaced the control board, he covered the new one with plastic wrap to avoid future moisture problems.

Ok got my 403 repaired and it cost me a $100. It turned out to be a dry solder on the cicuit board, took the repair man all of about 15 minutes from start to finish to fix it. Hopefully it will be ok now. :-)

Well well, I have the 403 and the same thing has happened to mine after 2.5 years as well. Not happy Jan!

I'm having the same concern but mine has been doing it for some time with only 2yrs 9 months operation, having a repair tech come tommorrow will be interesting to see what he says. My sister in-law had the same fault. Which she was informed it was a known fault. The fault was in the circuit board causing the hot water to shut off. She would need to turn hers off and on at the switch.

Mine too displayed the same problem - not heating, therefore not cleaning or drying properly (door still cold 20 minutes into cycle). I've found that there is a common (yet not often talked about) issue with a point on the controllers circuit board. If you remove the controller (simple to get at), remove the circuit board from the controller and flip it over you will see a 'burnt' solder joint on one of the legs to a black box component - resolder that joint and all should be well. Don't pause or open the door during a cycle as this seems to cause the joint to blow.

Same problem with a bonus. My 302 also leaks water from the base of the door whenever it washes in cold. Interestingly sometimes it works fine but other times it attempts to wash only in cold water and ends up leaking all over the kitchen. Only 2 and half years old. Have dropped it off for a repair for the 2nd time today. If I get any joy I'll post any possible solution.

one of the solder joints on the relay in the controller behind the buttons fails, and the circuit board/track gets a little burnt. the relay needs to be checked, and if it is ok, solder a wire from the relay pin back onto the track.

i'm not sure if the relay is "welding" itself on, so the heater element runs continously, causing the solder joint to fail, or if the solder joint is just failing on all of them.

every 302, 403 model is failing because of this, after about 2-3 years of use.

also i believe the fan stops working at the same time.

Disclaimer: only do this if you are qualified to do so.

Repair guy came again today, and replaced the front control panel. The heater relay switch was not functioning. You get to it by taking the panels off the front door.

The same problem here with our Dishlex 302 but ours is only 1 yr and 9 months old and still in Warranty. I guess that's a good thing. But when the service guy came, and my old father-in-law let him in, he was merely told that the spray arm was stuck and not turning. Like it was blocked.. Bull@#$!!
We'll get him back and ask for a new one and perhaps not a Dishlex.

Hi David,

I've just "joined the club" - this afternoon my Dishlex 302 stopped heating water. A yes, it is 2.5 years old. Did you make any breakthrough? If so, can you share your knowledge?

David.

Any luck with getting the dishawasher fixed? I have the Dishlex 403 with the same hidden element which I cant get to.
