Mountfield Omega 53 lawn mower - Model No00029015/MPR10032?

My mower powerdrive (self propelled system) has stopped working. The drive belt appars to be intact. Do the drive belts stretch and need replacing after 5 years use? Any information on what to look for would be appreciated. No manual was suppled by B and Q who sold it to me. The Briggs and Stratton Quattro engine is in good codition and working fine. Serial no 9800569. Made in France 1998.

If by stopped working you mean it wont self propell, then there are two things to check. One is that the lever to engage the drive is still under tension, I had the cable come unattached then this leaver has no resistance when pulled. Two is that the belt is still on the gear box end, this has happened to me today. I have yet to get it apart to investigate this though. Good luck
