Mend Wont Ring Right Time

won't ring the right time?

Supposed to ring once for one o'clock & twice for 2 etc
but the rings are all mixed up. How does one adjust the clock.
This is a wall clock that you wind once a week.

Once you get your clock reset it is best to stop the clock when ever it might totally wind down. if you will not be around to wind it in the seven days stop it and restart it when you get back. It may be that your time spring is longer than your strike spring. This will result in the time running ahead of the strike and it will remain off if not reset. however this is only the case if it has a strike wheel.

The first and easiest way to correct this problem is to move your hour hand which is usually friction fit. There may be a wire lift lever in the back that can be lifted to move forward the strikeing by one hour. the older clocks use a strike wheel and lever. the newer ones after the late 60's use a Snail.
