Mend White Knight Dryer Started Squeaking

Any suggestion on White Knight 767 Condenser Dryer?

The drum started squeaking a couple of weeks ago and now when I turn it on it makes a right racket. When I turn it off it stops spinning but the noise continues for a further few seconds. Could it be just a belt on the drum or something before I start to take a look at it? I have only had it about 2 and half years!!

Thanks Debbie

had a noise problem with my 2 year old 767c.this seemed to go after few weeks , then the drum stopped turning altogether. so far i ve found the belt has not snapped ,so i think must be problem with the motor . these cost about 230 to replace so going to try and clean up and re fit. if this not work could be scapped off.

I have a feeling that I have encountered the same problem as you, unfortunately I just closed the door and ignored the noise, it was still drying the clothes so it was no big problem. It has turned out to be a silly mistake as now the drum is not going round at all.
(definately not a broken belt) We have now tightened the fan in question which was extremely slack, but it has not solved our problem.

the moral to this tale i think is dont use your dryer again untill you have the fan tightened.

(Bill if you could offer me a little advice, i would be greatly appreciative.)

Good luck debbie

Thanks Bill. Have done that and it is what the problem is. Only trouble now is the bolt won't tighten or come undone. Think thread may be gone on it. Can't get the other cover off either to see whats going on without getting the fan unscrewed first. There is too much electrical wiring in the back anyway. But now it's so annoying knowing that it's such a simple problem yet still can't remedy it. It still dries the clothes but I am worried it will burn out altogether if that fan isn't right. Once again Thanks very much for taking the time to answer my question.

This machine has a fan at the rear of the of the cabinet. You will see a " banjoe " shaped cover at the rear held on by lots of screws. Remove the cover and you will see the fan in question. Check the bolt to see if it is loose. If this is ok then it could be the internal fan loose...a lot bigger job.Let me know I will try to help. Disconnect from the mains before attempting this repair there are mains connections behined this cover.
