I can't get the axles to stay in the housing?

I was trying to change the tires ,they where on the axle so tight that i was trying to work the tire loose but the tire still on the axle came out, now i can't seem to get it to stay in the housing, the mower want move

Your in for some fun-It sounds like you knocked the clip off the end of the axle- to fix this you will have to plit the rear end housing,once you do you will find a gear and usually a e-clip-you will need to put these back on the axle and bolt it back together(gear first-beveled side in).I recommend putting a new clip on when you do it.
