I have just opened up my DC04. The only way to replace the clutch belt is to buy a complete clutch assembly. To change the drive belt from the motor to the clutch assembly (confused? There are two belts.)you have to remove the clutch assembly complete and take the end cover off the clutch assembly - you'll see what I mean when you get the clutch assembly out. Now - to get the clutch assembly out you need a small "Torque" screwdriver, sometimed referred to as a star screwdriver. It has 5 points instead of 4 like a Phillips or like the 6 flats of an Allen key. I have my Dyson in bits awaiting a new clutch and belt assembly from espares (£19.23 inc vat & p&p). I've done it the hard way, you may be able to get the clutch assembly out without taking the whole thimg to bits. Two Torque screws hold the clutch housing in place. The lime cover at the end of the housing you have to prise off with a couple of good screwdrivers. (What I call using brute force and ignorence. Hope this helps you. By the way if you find a little steel pin about 2m/m in diameter and 75m/m long note where it came from and let me wnow please, because I am having difficulty in figuring out where it "fell from". Good luck. redeyenewby
