how can i soften or clean singed carpet?

my carpet got slightly singed when the iron that i was using fell on floor. how can i soften or clean the carpet spot?

use a sharp scissors and just cut the vert tip of the carpet yarn off unless it's a berber that would just make a bigger problem. on berber you would need to put a patch in.
