Mend Hotpoint Dishwasher Finished Cycle

2nd and 4th green lights flashing on Hotpoint dishwasher BF1620?

My Hotpoint Dishwasher BF1620 has almost finished its cycle but when I opened the door I noticed the 2nd and 4th lights flashing (Daily Wash and Eco). Manual doesn't state what this means. I have only had this dishwasher 18 months and have already had to have the water heater replaced. I have checked the filter and apart from a lonely baked bean, nothing seems to be blocking it. Help!

I've had several problems with mine, so I will never buy a hotpoint appliance again as my last washing machine was also tat! It's my 3rd light that is now flashing, ( eco wash light )the dishwasher sounds like its gonna start then beeps and stops. Anyone have any idea, I'm thinking the thermo? I'm also thinking of just buying a new one as I'm not paying a hotpoint engineer another £150 to fix then leave a dirty mess! :(

Had a similar problem on our BFI670, hotpoint quoted £!20 for repair. I replaced the upper spray arm fixing nut with the rubber seal - all seems to be working now. The seal gets damaged when the upper tray is pushed home, and somehow the machine doesn't work properly, maybe due to the loss of pressure somewhere in the system. Anyway it worked for me. The seal is available on a well known auction website for around £6

Had exactly the same fault with mine and the dishwasher is only 2 years old - would cost over £200 to fix and hotpoint only guarantee this part for 90 days and you can't guarantee it won't happen again.

I personally now wouldn't touch Hotpoint with a barge pole - they initially gave the wrong advice saying the pipe was blocked and it isn't it's the heating element/circuit.

Steer clear of this model if you are thinking of buying one apparently this is a regular fault with this model.

Gonna buy a Bosch instead!!!!

I looked at the other answers with dread - these things can be such a pain in the ar$e to sort out. But then I spotted one comment that suggested just keep trying turning it off and on again. It took about five goes, but then it worked.

Don't give up too easily is my advice!

I have had lights 2 and 4 flash as an error increasingly soon after starting the cycle (over several weeks). I eventually assumed that the heating element cut-out was stopping the cycle (due to overheating - presumably lime build up on element). Eventually it would start 'just' as the heating element would presumably cut in, ie after the water had filled the sump of the machine.

Engineer took machine away to diagnose and fitted new heater element...
Before it came back the engineer said that it had developed another problem after (his) fitting of a new heater element... the casing was now live.

came back - fixed...

Once back in situ I put it thorough a cycle and between 30-60 mins it has now started to trip our mains circuit breaker - clearly a leak somewhere (elec).

I have called the engineer....

Had same problem, I've had the front circuit board changed and the heating element as it was scaled up. Has worked for about a month and is now smelling of burning and lights are flashing at the end of the cycle. Getting really sick of this machine. Does anyone have the burning smell as well

I have it covered on insurance but it's still a nightmare as the engineers won't take it out of its housing (intigrated) we have to do this before they arrive. They won't put it back so you're never sure if it works before they've left.

Hi,
I have the same problem! Hotpoint said it was a blocked waste pipe but the pipe has been cleaned and it still is not working. Have you got it fixed yet? If so, how did you do it?

what you could do is buy a warrenty.for d,washer, then wait 30days ,you cant claim in first 30days, then phone up and claim... 30 pounds for a full year warrenty..

i am having the same problem...seems like its a design fault if you ask me...i switch the machine off then try again, repeat until it works...sometimes it seems like its working but when you open the door the washing tab is still unused...try again and it does eventually get going...long may this method last, i cant afford to get it fixed!

Hotpoint version of BF1620 it means Fault code "AL10" the heating element and associated connections. If it is the Indesit version it means the water inlet.

It means a failure of the heater or associated circuitry

Having the same problem with mine. Hotpoint say it's probably the heater. This is rubbish as is usally happens at the end of the cycle and it's nice and hot inside.
Inlet is also fine as far as i can tell. It all started to go wrong when the live wire which was resting against the heater melted through the insulation and kept blowing the 13A fuse!!!!!
And also the waste pipe had also got very hot and bubbled out and started leaking!!! What a rubbish machine.

We have the same error lights on our BF1620. I just phoned up the Hotpoint service centre and said that this error message indicates that there is an issue with the water inlet and to check the tap, which I'm just about to do.
