How does SensorDry work on White Knight WK447 ?

We've just bought a 2nd hand one without instructions. I'd appreciate if anyone can explain how the sensordry feature works. Should the dryer stop before the time is up if the clothes get dry ?
Also the time continues to whir until it is switched off at the plug - is there no off switch on the dryer ? Thanks for your help.
