Mend Thomson 32 Switching Tv

thomson 32" keeps switching off?

I have a 32"widescreen thomson tv. which is 2 years old it goes on for about 15mins then switches itself off. It has to be left off for about an hour befre it will switch on again (for about approx 20 mins)
Any ideas?

i have just purchased a 40inch thomson lcd full hd tv, just got deliverd today so i unpacked it and stood it on my telly stand, plugged it into the wall and it wont even work! the standby light doesnt even light up :(, ive even changed the fuse to see but its fine, my guess is either its been bashed about in delivery van or just a dodgy telly, but just wanted to try n see if anybody would have experienced somthing similar with any luck at all? cheers :)

I have a 32" Thomson LCD TV which is about 2-3 years old. TOday when I put it on , it was lagging, and what i mean by that is that i cant change the channel or even turn the damn thing off without taking the power cable out from behind! Any solutions

i agree . we have a 50 inch lcd telly and a cinema system, the cinema system has been replaced twice and the mother board in the telly has been changed. old tellys are defo the most reliable. just a bit heavier.

we have had over the 2 and a half years we have been living together 5 tvs. We currently have 2 in the house. One thomson and one ten year old panasonic. Our thomson has decided to not turn on and just flash red at us. Our panasonic is alive and kicking. Our plan of action? Move the old tv downstairs so we can enjoy our 360 (which is the only reason we have one in the first place) and get rid of the new one. Old tvs last for ages. My mam had a toshiba that lasted 22 years. Our advice would be to buy a cheap and cheerful old one and make do. What good is a 3 grand flatscreen tv and a 1 grand cinema system if you can't watch the tv? A 50 pound from the paper tv will do what you need it to.

i have got a thomson scenium intergrated dvd player tv it is approx 10 year old the problem is that when i switch it on the red light comes on but no picture but after a few hours or more it comes on and the open close button does not open the dvd player so dont no if it is a electrical fault or the tube is on its way out as it the power button os on and u can hear a slight noise as it is getting switched as a powering up noise

i had a problem with my THOMSON tv not wanting to start and flashing red led codes.
i took the back off making sure that there were nothing left charged and soldered all the joints around the power supply and LOPT transformer.
i also soldered the blue disc capacitor on the pcb at the sharp end of the tube, don`t know what the board`s called but i think that was the guilty component

I have a Tomson TV with the same problem, it switches off and the red LED flashes a set sequence. I took it in to be repaired by a local techician who told me that it was a relay on the standby circuit board and that if I had tried turning it on and off repeatably by the main switch, the board would have gone and that would be that (i.e if the red LED does not come on at all the TV is shot). He replaced the relay and £49 later the TV worked...... However 3 months later it has stared to do the same thing again :-(
Best of luck

Where are you and what are your room temperatures?
Could well be a heat problem.
Painless test so well worth it.
Put a reasonably powerful domestic fan within a couple of feet of your device.
Good chance this will cure it, thereby indicating it is a heat problem.
Good luck

I had an Hitachi Tv that use to do something similiar. It wouldn't start up straight away or would go into standby after a while. My flatmates (not me) use to belt it and it would usually come back on. After a while the belting would have to be more frequent and with more force ,till it was decided by my flatmates to throw the tv away. I asked if I could have the Tv for my room. I 'googled' on the web and found a tv technician website. Someone else had a similiar problem. One of the resistors needed a slight bit of soldering. £25 later I have a brilliant 28" for my bedroom
