fiesta battery light flicking on/off.flat battery 1.8diesal?

as above ,lighrt flashes on/off then battery drains! it's a 1.8 diesal.

any help appreciated

You don't say which year model but I would strongly suspect the alternator - take it to your local tyre centre and ask them to check alternator output and battery charge state. A free service!!!
