I have just replaced the two thermostats but suspect the new (red dot )one is faulty. Having checked it with a multimeter it is in the normally open postion. when shorted with a piece of wire, the element comes on and works perfectly.
Am i right in thinking it can only be this thermostat or am i missing something?
generally speaking the red spot stat should be "closed" in the normal operating position ( it is the 90 degree wash stat ). was the stat you replaced also "open" circuit? some times tapping the face of the stat onto a hard surface can unjam it, how ever it is my experiance that thermostats on washing machines are very reliable.
