how i fix the broken ashtray of vaushall zafira?

The Vauxhall Zafira ashtray box that flips open failed to close and now it has fallen out from it original position

there is a metal strip behind the left side of the ashtray which you can feel. If you open/close the ashtray you can slip the strip behind the ashtray which will keep it in a half closed position. I think I can possibly figure out from this how to fix it near 100%. will let you know if i succeed. Please let me know if you have any success yourself. my question is the only other query for vauxhall zafira ashtray.
