How do I fix a loose programme selector on a Hotpoint Aquarius CTD40 drier?

The programme selector on our CTD40 is loose and the drier doesn't always start and sometimes doesn't switch off. The selector switch feels loose and occasionally needs to be rocked to allow the Start button to operate. I tried to access the back of the switch but can't work out how to remove the top panel.

I managed to push the control panel from rear as described above, but managed to reach it from above by removing just the back screw of the top panel, when raising the top panel it allowed just enough of a gap for me to get my arm inside and push the panel into place. hard but a little easier than removing all those screw and panels, etc. worth a try.

Nightmare. As always manufactures go for looks, not easy access. Had similar issue CTD40P, ON/OFF and Start buttons disappearing into the housing.
Had to unscrew the side panels and lid at the rear. remove the screws at the from connecting the metal face panel to the bottom plastic portion. Also screws around the drum.
Remove the door.
There is a support bar running from the rear to front at the top, righ-hand side (facing the front). Had to remove the screws at the rear, and disconnect the earth and control wire.
The whole front should lift, and become free, along with the top.
Careful as there are further wires at the front I then took off and unclipped from some cable-management.
Wire are still attached but I was then just able to reach the control panel from the rear. Found no method to access directly.
Was able to push the circuitboard from the rear and it snapped back into place.
Then came the job of putting it all back together.
Had similar problem with oven but had much better access and was able to insert small screws as the plastic clips had broke.
