Mend Vauxhall Corsa 1.0ltr Start Head Gasket

1.0ltr corsa difficult to start?

I have replaced the cylinder head gasket on my sons 52 plate corsa 1.0ltr. It is now difficult to start,when it does it will run for a short time on tickover then die,if i keep the revs up it will run smooth but then die and is theresfter difficult to start. The timing has been set and appears to be spot on.Any ideas please
