Mend Vauxhall Astra Fault Problem Start

Auto geat box fault?

Hi I have a 1992 Vauxhall Astra auto hatch.The problem only
happens from first start up in cold weather,that is the sports mode light flashes and top gear is engauged.Stoping the engine and restarting again cures it, any advice why this happens.

an electrical fault is telling your engine management system that the gearbox is faulty. avoid dealers due to cost but your car needs plugging into a diagnostic pc to find the error codes. it could be something as daft as an interior light fault but Im afraid its a problem that could cost big time if its selector solinoids... good luck
