Fitting the primary belt (the one between the motor and the clutch) is difficult, but doesn't need a 'proffesional' [sic] engineer - just logic, patience, and a long-reach torx driver (size T15). One nice thing about the design of this machine is that all the screws are exactly the same size - well, except for the two screws that hold the clutch together that is - watch out for those puppies! One horrible thing is that the design prioritises looks and ease of mechanised assembly, but little consideration for the after-sales maintenance engineer - you might almost imagine that Dyson were encouraging customers to throw away their machines and buy a new one . . .
The operation requires an almost complete disassembly - the only thing you don't need to take out is the on-off switch. By patience, I mean you need to allow an entire day to complete the job. I could only get the primary belt by telling the supplier (in Glastonbury) that I was a qualified mechanical engineer. Good Luck!
