i have a 2.5 v6 mondeo if you put it into 1stor 2nd it pulls fne but wont pull away in drive but you can put it into drive at 45mph and it starts to pull but as you slow down it diss engages again is there a quick fix or do i need to change the gearbox as i have a spare and how hard is it to change the box could it be the tork converter
Hello it,s the sprag (one way clutch) or the forward clutch drum has split,most common is the drum splitting.
To fix you either need to rebuild or replace the gearbox.
To change the gearbox you need to support the engine from under the bonnet across the inner wings,totally remove the subframe under the car and replace the gearbox.
