I have a Hotpoint CTD00 tumble drier that trips the circuit breaker when switched on. I have disconnected the heater element and the drier runs and the drum turns with no problems or noise, so thought it was the element. Tried fitting a new element and it's still the same with the new one fitted. Any suggestions.
there was a small amount of water when i removed the back cover but it was dry when i put it back on. The RCD and the circuit breaker are both tripping.

Incidentally if your dryer has not been modified you can contact Whirlpool directly for a free repair

Was there any water when you removed the heater cover ? Sometimes if the pump has failed or the chamber is blocked it can cause the water to run towards the fan and be thrown onto the element

Which breaker is it tripping - overload or earth leakage?
