What is error E1 on 2006 Sears Free spirit treadmill?

I plug the treadmill into AC power and the motor does a very a small movement, not even a 1/4 turn.

Then I press the "start" button. The time counter runs for about 11 seconds and stops. The code "E1" appears on the Speed display and that's it. The machine just stops.

My treadmill is a 2006 Sears Freespirit, model 122 305210. Sears does not support it any more.

Any help would really be appreciated.
