vauxhall corsa 1.2 2001?

I was replacing the battery and my spanner droped on to the live terminal and the car body. It had been running o/k before this. I have checked all the fuses and they seem to be o/k. it will not start with the new battery fitted. It sounds as if it is trying to start. can anybody help?
