we have a ford mondeo 2.0 ghia which we have just brought only we have a problem when stationary you can get gears but when the engine is running you can not select any what could the problem be we was to from the person we brought the car from that the clutch cable needs adjusting but a breakdown company told us that the clutch is hydrolic can any one tell which it is and how to fix the problem thank you
Depends on the year of the car but most are hydraulic. You could be looking at a hefty repair bill (300-500) to replace the clutch assembly. The hydraulic cylinder is also the clutch thrust bearing and requires the gearbox to be removed to replace it. For a quick try job you can try bleeding the clutch first but don't expect it to cure it. Book it in & get it checked properly.
