How can I turn off WiFi notifications on Android 6 (Marshmallow)?

Every time my phone finds free WiFi it bleeps a notification. You don't seem to be able to turn this notification off. E.g. you walk down the High Street and it bleeps several times.

Even more annoyingly it cuts the radio or podcast I am listening to.

Hope someone knows how to turn this notification off.
