Mend Replaced Wont Turn

replaced brush wont turn on?

my mixer wouldn't turn on so we checked the brushes and one of them was broken. Got new parts in today and replaced the old ones and still nothing!!! checked the board and everything looks good. What could be wrong? only had the mixer for a year and i can count the number of times i have used it

the only thing that causes carbon brushes to break is one segment of the armature has lifted and snaps brushes
check the armature for a lifted segment

What could be wrong is that the motor is burnt out - which is to say when the brush broke the armature may have become jammed fast so that full current acted on one or two windings for a much longer period than would normally happen with a rotating armature.

This is my guess for what could be wrong.
