Mend Scantronic 9651 Problem Alarm Happened

What is the problem with Scantronic 9651 burglar alarm?

Sorry if this is vague but I do not understand what has happened to my burglar alarm and find it hard to explain, but I will try to explain as best I can.

This morning the alarm started going off randomly we worked out it seems to the sensor in sitting room that is the problem because when we cover it the alarm stops, however the keypad shows a triangle with exclamation mark in orange lit up,
also before we covered the sitting room sensor the keypad said "call an engineer"
Is there a way to correct this without calling an engineer, and if we do have to call a one how much on average can we expect to pay? (live in Gateshead area), we are pensioner's and don't want to pay out if we can fix it easily.

When key in the 07890 number again to get into the installers mode
You say "open up the end station,find the tt section on the pcb fit a link across the terminals" , how do we get to open up the "end station" also what is the TT scection, also what is the pcb?

Im sorry if this is tedious for you I understand, if you think this might be beyond us because as I said we reall have no clue as to what we are looking at it all seems double dutch to us please just say if you think we should just call in someone to fix this?

its a global tamper on this unit check the pirs cases that they are properly closed,next check for cut cables,have you had any new carpets fitted? if you cant find the fault then key in the 07890 number again get the installers mode up again,open up the end station,find the tt section on the pcb fit a link across the terminals,(short it out ) not ideal but will get your system back up and running,then close cover key in 99 enter it will ask you if you want to leave engineering say yes then all should be good ,let me know please if this helps

gts or any other kind person

I found out online if I key in 99 I can get out of installer mode BUT I now have message "ZONE TAMPER 201, the 201 changes to 201,202,203 constantly.
Any ideas please?

Sorry to be so long answering had other more important problems.
We tried entering 07890 and that stopped the sensor going off, however on the alarm display we have "Installer mode" if we press the tick it still displays "Installer mode" can you advise me how I should proceed please?

a pir is the beam that u have covered up ,its an infra red detector ,in trade a pir 07890 is the factory engineer code ,we change it to our own when we install the system some electricians who are not alarm engineers and dont have to follow the rules we do dont bother to change the code ,try it and see ,if it works it will ask you if you want to leave the engineer menu just say yes

The company who installed it has stopped trading now, we don't even know what a PIR is. Is the 07890 to reset to default?

you may have a faulty pir or a spider in it if the panel has been prog for engineer reset then you will need call the company who installed it to key in his engineer code,or,get another company who will reset the panel back to factory settings if you remove the cover of the sensor you will cause a tamper that will require the engineering code to reset the panel,you could try 07890 c if that works
