Kenwood dishwaher kdw12st3a faulty program button?

I have just replaced the thermostat on my kenwood kdw12st3a
Dishwasher .eveything was fitted ok.
On switching the machine back on, the program flashes 88 and when i press the program button it goes to 18 .
If i close the door it starts a small filling and the numbers on the panel count down to 10 , then the program stops.
