Unusual screw removal?

Electrolux z370 multi-steamer
I would like to remove the cover underneath to refit the power cable - but the screws are very unusual - star shape which I can probably match but with a fine spike sticking up the middle which prevents the screwdriver fitting from being pushed in; perhaps I can try and bend it off?
