The control switch you have will probably be a safety switch - if the power is interrupted you need to select on for the saw to operate - stops the blade starting on its own when the power is restored.
You do not describe what you mean by intermittently but no matter. If after a stoppage you have to press the go button to make the machine run then the fault is between the supply and the switch - if the motor starts without pressing the button then the fault is after the switch - I would look first at the wall socket and the plug on the end of the cable.
