Mend Potterton Puma 80 Heating Pressure Lockout

What`s wrong potterton puma 80?

System lock-outs, Low system pressure System over pressures,
sometimes no water flow through heating system but through PRV. DHW ok, unless low pressure lock out.
Dials will not control temps for either DHW or CH. Sometimes too hot.

Potterton Potterton Puma 80 Heating, Home Heating Systems Heating Pressure Lockout

Fixed it (I hope)
Replaced switching valve (really crudded up) and Pressure release valve (same as above)

This sounds very much like my problem. What is causing it? How do I fix it?
