How to fix a GE model 1950 that says "keypad shorted may need service"?

Okay, so I decided to clean the microwave, inside and out. But when I cleaned the outside, I used dish soap to clean it off. I scrubbed at it, but now my microwave stopped working. It says keypad shorted, may need service, or something like that. Please help me! I am a broke college kid that did to his parents microwave. I don't have the money for any repairs! Help quickly please!
