Mend McCulloch TM210 New Fuel Lines

fitting new fuel lines?

mcculloch petrol strimmer tm210
my old plastic tubing has disintegrated so i don't know whether to put the filter on the thick tube or the thin one? also, do i cut them both so that they will reach the bottom of the fuel tank or only one of them?
