can I fix my singer 9410 stitch length control?

My 47 yr. old Singer model 9410 will not adjust the stitch length. It stays the same no matter where I set the length. What can I do?

Wow not so easy to tell without seeing machine but all i can reccommend if you dont want to take it to a tech is to open far as possible , clean out and oil properly to see if mechanism will start working,if that doesnt help it could be a frozen or broken link
