Turning power off to scantronic 9427?

Thanks for the pointers everyone, this may be obvious if it's your trade but I've never done anything like this before. I think the problems are a bit clearer now

So the battery should be inside the control panel? Will it be obvious and where would I get a replacement from?

there is one other possibility,they have no batteries fitted in them,

if they where all installed at the same time,then there is a possibility that all the batteries are duff,they last between 3 to 5 years depending where the panel is placed ,to let you understand better,the panel is mains operated with a standby battery,if the power fails the panel switches to the back up battery,then when power comes back on,the battery gets charged

I wouldn't know where to find the spur as I don't have a wiring diagram. I live in a flat and we had a local power cut a few years ago and every alarm in the block went off. If there is a standby battery in each of them surely they shouldn't have all gone off unless every single battery was flat in ~100 flats?

Thanks for the helpful pointers. I'm learning this as I go along. So if the alarm shouldn't go off when the power is off then if I replace the battery should that sort it?

and replace the standby battery as its shot by the sound of it (no pun intended) the fact that your alarm went off when you turned the power off tells you the battery is goosed

remove the 3 amp fuse from the spur unit that feeds the panel,the standby battery will feed the panel till you get the sockets replaced
