I inherited a Singer 427 and it needs a new motor belt. However I can't seem to be able to find a way to remove the hand wheel. Am really stuck :( Help!
some are veeery tight,it has to come loose,try two strap spanners that normally is used to open bottels,just remember it loosens anticlockwise

I have removed the small screw and still can't take off the small knob in the centre of the hand wheel.

you did not say what you have tried or not,the basic is to remove the small screw on the small wheel on top of handwheel and by turning it anticlockwise remove it ,thereafter the handwheel should be removable.just take not off the way the small star shape washer is fitted when assemble the high part should be against small wheel
