how do you remove the coupling drive on a Kitchen Aid KSB50B Blender?
The plastic coupling drive on my 5 speed Kitchen Aid Ultra power melted. I can buy a replacement part # AP2930430. is it a screw or pressed on the motor shaft?
I meant to paste this.. "In the UK. Ring the spares dept No.0845 6011 287. You will be able to order a new coupling which will come supplied with a spanner and info on how to replace it. We did it this morning and it took about 10 mins."

I Googled Kitchen Aid Repair UK this morning and got this website, found this answer above, dialled the number and whole problem is sorted in less than 5 minutes for less than £13. Thanks everyone. Amazing. :-)

I found my coupling even more stubborn - it took 15 mins of holding with the silly little spanner and hitting clockwise with hammer and punch to unscrew - I would've given up but for my mate who kept telling me to keep going. Cant believe the blender still works after all the times we hit it. Fair play!

Sam's answer - and link to mendingshed - worked. I spent a long time using the supplied spanner, a screwdriver and WD40, all to no avail. I'd just about given up when I came upon this site. Used the hammer-and-punch trick and bingo! Done in two seconds flat!

I got mine from http://www.kaparts.co.uk/. They supply a very thin spanner that made it really easy to take off the old coupler. Very quick postage too!

The Mending Shed says it is screwed on counterclockwise. They recommend placing a punch against one of the teeth and hit it with a mallet in a clockwise direction to break the seal the coupling has formed with the shaft. Then unscrew it in a clockwise direction. Other sites have given more complicated and difficult directions using BBQ skewers, open end wrenches and channel lock pliers! I have just ordered a new coupling for my blender so have not tried any of the above repairs yet. Good Luck!

Here is a service manual that shows you how to repair the typical kitchenaid mixers out there; good luck! :-)
This requires adobe acrobat reader to use the file; if you don't have it goto www.adobe.com.
